Our Creative Enrichment programs provide students with additional opportunities to grow through the arts without extending the school day. Kindergarten students at both Little Friends Montessori and Young Voyagers begin dedicated arts experiences that prepare them for our arts-integrated elementary program. Families may also choose to enroll in optional offerings such as Primary Dance, complete with performance opportunities, and private music lessons. All programs are thoughtfully scheduled within the school day and led by our experienced arts educators.
MUSIC
Music at Little Friends is rooted in play with the belief that joy inspires life long learning. Children are naturally drawn to music, and by providing a fun and safe environment we encourage and foster musical learning through song, movement, and instrumental play. Musical concepts are taught through hands-on doing. This active and tactile approach to music provides a well-rounded foundational musical education. Additionally, we prioritize incorporating academic subjects into the music classroom for a cohesive and integrative education.
Miss Beats (Kaylee Bonatakis) is particularly inspired and influenced by the Orff Schulwerk approach to music education. This “child-centered way of learning” treats music learning like language learning. It is rooted in child’s play, simple repetitive musical patterns, and uses basic and easy to approach materials. We adhere to state and national standards, while also keeping creative integrity to supply our students with a musical program designed just for them.
DANCE
Little Friends Montessori and Young Voyagers Montessori School of Arts proudly partner with Rebecca Russell's Tippy Toe Dance Studio to offer an exceptional daytime dance program. Students develop confidence, creativity, and discipline while building a strong technical foundation in a joyful and encouraging environment.
Students explore both ballet and hip-hop, developing coordination, musicality, rhythm, and artistic expression. Through classical ballet, dancers build strength, balance, and proper technique while learning the language and traditions of ballet. Hip-hop introduces students to an energetic and athletic style that emphasizes rhythm, musicality, body awareness, and performance.
As part of the Tippy Toe Dance Studio community, students also have the unique opportunity to perform each spring on the historic Elsinore Theatre stage in an exhibition before a Tippy Toe Dance Studio production, celebrating their growth and sharing their artistry with family and friends.
